7 key principles of learning

As I continue to learn what it means to truly be the best online instructor, I am also learning what it takes for the students as well. These are some of the things that I will take back to my class. If I put this message out in the beginning I think it will encourage my students to greatness. In the end isn't that what I want.

Sarah,

I hope so. For many the "grade" culture puts the emphasis on what grade is earned in the course; not the learning. That bothers me greatly. I have stopped emphasizing grades and started using the term evaluation to get the use to making continuous improvement in their work.

I have a system I use, I have a pre/post test that I give on both the first day of class and the last day of class, this is great because the student really gets a chance to see just how much they have grown in such a short time.

Harlan,

What a great strategy! It really does give them a nice view of their learning. It also takes grades out of it and I think that is important.
