Establishing a pattern with communication
When you consistently contact your students even when there's no improvement needed will it increase their efforts?

It can. You need to develop their sense of community. Their sense of community is so different than ours but is still important to them.

Their sense of community is great! I send out group texts to my students. It is amazing the positive feedback I get from the texts.

Students love those texts. I have found students respond quicker when I push "stuff" to their phones. That includes messages and calendars!

I think that is a great idea. I tend to use Mail messages in Blackboard first but I have found the students respond quicker to Starfish which sends the message to their personal email.
