Having students realize their goals for themselves is the best way for them to buy into their new careers.

Listening to students will give you more insight on how to help them with starting a new career.

I have learned from this training is to be a good listener to my students to understand where they are in life and seeking employment.

I am thankful for tools to help job seekers handle and answer challenging interview questions that can ask for negative information. Knowing how to approach these questions and insight on what the interviewer is really looking for is huge, especially for young job seekers who may be extra tripped up by these questions. It's important to be authentic and honest but answer these questions strategically so you do not raise a red flag for the interviewer.

I hadn't heard of the MAPP method before and think it is a great idea for case notes!

The STAR method sticks out as it makes interview responses more memorable to the interviewee when making hiring decisions. Also, the confidence section stuck out to me as a teacher who is helping coach and prepare students for the interviewing process. Confidence is HUGE and it's nice to have practical steps to help students reflect confidence in a stressful situation.

This module for me really just put the proper emphasis on making sure records are kept organized and reviewed for any errors. I feel like at times it can be easy to feel like the process is mundane or not as important as other parts of the job, but when re-examined...employment verification definitely demands a high prioritization.

I appreciated the table comparing the different methods of verification, and I see how in my current role each play out. For example, we use surveys and 3rd party verifications. The 3rd party work is always expensive but comes back very accurate. Surveys have been found to vary in acuracy among graduates vs employers.

I didn't realize the significance of reporting the details behind where a graduate goes after college. I got a heightened sense of the need for accurate reporting.

The more a student knows about the company policies on dealing with felony charges, the better they will be prepared to interview.
