How to help and understand students with language barriers

Jotting down notes soon after or during a discussion with a student will be more effective. The chances of you forgetting something at the end of a long day is minimizing.

There are formal and informal groups. Putting students in formal groups can help them learn from each other.

That instructors should step away from their desk and move around the room the hold the students attention.

It is important to know your students. Conducting an "Icebreaker" exercise can be beneficial, not only for the instructor, but for the students.

Being prepared is key!

Active learning has a positive impact on how students learn and retain information.

As an instructor, I plan to create learning activities that stimulate active learning and participation during lecture and class discussions.

The three major roles that we play in our position, should set the expectation for the student of who they want to be when they enter the workforce.

I love the idea of giving a pretest about what is going to be the content in the course.  Not for the grade but showing them what they will learn.  I also like the idea of them coming to class already having looked over or reviewed the material to be taught that day.
