I learned that leadership development should start early--most adults don't get leadership training until their 40s, and CTSOs can give students a huge head start. Self-awareness is the foundation, and self-assessments help students understand their strengths and growth areas before they're thrown into leadership roles.

I plan to be more intentional about rotating leadership opportunities, not just relying on the same outgoing students. I also want to use self-assessments at the start of the year and debrief them with students so they can see a clear path for growth. And I need to give students room to make mistakes--if I'm always stepping in to fix things, they're not really learning.
