I learned of the importance of setting and following a set of rules is very important to maximize the ability of the students to preform labs safely and efficiently.

I learned of the importance of setting clear expectations with lab assessments to allow the student to know the requirements as well as ease their anxieties about the assessment.

I learned of the financial benefits, as well as the other benefits such as being easier to see and easier to make up missed labs, by utilizing virtual labs in class.

It is important to make sure students stay engaged and motivated to make sure they get the most out of the program.

I learned that you should inform the students of emerging technologies in the field that may not be available in lab. It is still important to inform them of what’s out on the job site.

I learned of the importance to have clear objectives for our lessons. This allows the students to know when they have achieved what they were meant to from the lesson.

I learned of the importance of saving old lesson plans for future use when you teach the course. This alone allows you to be one step up from where you were the first time teaching the material.

I learned of the importance of finding out what your students know and don’t know. I intend to do this to make sure I’m not teaching them something they already know and that I’m not assuming they know something that they don’t.

I learned of the importance of bringing your experience and sharing that with the students. We should never act like the smartest in the room because there is always someone smarter. We have experienced and expertise in the subject though and it’s our job to relay that knowledge to the students.

I learned of the importance of nonverbal communication when leading a discussion to encourage engagement.
