Activity

Group based learning can be extremely beneficial for student skill building when planned effectively.

Time management is a major skill that students need to be empowered to practice and build. Rubrics are key to success, ensuring that it is clear to the students.

I have learned the importance of setting expectations of roles and engagement upfront is vital. I must be ready to be challenged on this learning environment, but know that it is beneficial overall.

As an instructor, I need to ensure that I am taking on the role of facilitator more than lecturer. I need to give space for the students to fully engage in the content. By creating these opportunities, students will master and apply the skills and knowledge better to the real world and learn beneficial skills like collaboration.
