Activity

This was an incredibly useful material. Our thinking guides our actions. Cultivate a positive mindset in our lives and our workplaces should be a daily goal. I plan to apply Perma to my daily live and my classroom.

Overprepare, be very organized, a couple of strategies that will help you as you gain the experience you lack as a new instructor.

I really appreciated this lesson as it taught me much about handlining the different student personalities.

I learned a great deal with this topic. I loved the idea given of an "observer" to better deal with the center-stage student. I will use it from now on.

Apart from the fact that clear expectations need to be set from the beginning of the course, it is important that the student knows that the information they are learning can be applied to their careers or career paths. WIIFM( what's in it for me), they definitely will be more interested and engaged.

Comment on Tom Hayes's post: I am sorry to read this. Perhaps it is time to change environment. As long as you are willing to change there is always the possibility!!!

This lesson gave me a lot of insight. I have a combined guide and buddy style instructor styles. I will focus on being more of a guide instructor rather than a buddy to provide the best education to my students.

I definitely agree that the more familiar you become with the content, the systems and the navigation through these systems the more helpful you can be to your students.

I am a new Clinical Instructor for the Dental Hygiene Program. I do not teach an online class however I find that in any teaching atmosphere, the student/professor relationship is very important to the student engagement and retention. It must be a trust relationship fostered by an active listening, supportive learning, respectful communication.
