Using both intrinsic and extrinsic motivators can be beneficial, as people are motivated by both, but not always at the same time or together. 

It's important to incorporate strategies to encourage autonomy in adult education. 

Making sure that i am clear with my expectations for the class regarding attendance, participation, GPA, and skills assessments. Also making sure they understand what their schedule will look like so they know what to expect, how the class will be run most of the time.

Adult learners learn best when the subject is relevant, practical and can be connected to real-life situations.
