Activity

I will apply what I have learned from this segment with encorparating more videos into my Online instruction. I will make sure to incorporate the suggestion of not posting videos more than 15 minutes in duration

I learned a lot in this segment.I learned and reaffirmed that "technology" can and does play an important role in the instructors ability in incorporating active learning techniques.

I also learned the threefold plan to incorporate active learning in the classroome Online:

1. Instructor release time

2. Financial incentives

3. Infusion of community scholars information

I learned that active learning moves the student from passitive to active learning. Active learning, in my opinion promotes more learning and retention of information in a fun environment

Fun is important in the learning process because some instructors may not believe that having fun while learning is not that very important. I also learned that the three different classifications of active learning are:

1. Collobrative Learning

2. Cooperative Learning

3. Problem-based Learning

I recall in my first Online instructional coure I used ONLY student evaluation of the course to modify my next course. Oh boy was my other campus stakeholders upset.

I learned from this module that using student course evaluations are important but not enought to completely and accurately revising a course. Course feedback from student is important and valuable but feedback from the stakeholders is also needed.

I have learned many things from this module but the most important item I learned is the importance of using good classroom rubrics.

Well developed rubrics can go a long way in enhancing student learning.

Is there any situation where the syllabus may be too long for good classroom learning?

Having taught Online courses for several years I have found in each year of teaching one critically important item is a well developed syllabus for the course.

In this module more clarification on the concept of "scaffolding" was insightful.Poor scaffolding can create poor learning.
