It was interesting having all the different types of questions that can be used to assess student's knowledge.  I think it is better to use at least two different types of questions on exams.

I think it is important not to belitttle a student in front of the class or jsut move on to another student if the wrong answer to a question was given.  Talk to the student and redirect them to discover the answer on thsir own.  This path actually helps the entire class learn how to get to the correct answer.

It was very interesting learning about the Net Generation and how using technology can enhance their learning.  Video taping lecture and using class time to emphasize key points in the lecture material is a good idea.

Start the class woth some sort of "tease" or question that peaks the student's interest and encourages them to be engaged in the class.

It was interesting to see how various teaching techniques can be utilized during an allotted lecture time.  Mix up the teaching techniques to keep the students engaged in class.

It is important that the students know a little about you, so they realize you are a human being too.  It is also very important to learn the student's names as soon as possible so they feel valued.  Pass on your enthusiasm for the content you are teaching and that will peak the interest of the subject matter you are teaching for them.

After you have prepared the first draft of your syllabus have a more seasoned instructor look at it and give you some suggestions to improve on it.  Preparation is very important so that your class goes smoothly.  Keep a pad handy to write down specific questions you were asked, so you can get back to the class with the correct answer.  By using this one tool it adds to the instructor's credibility that we will do what we say we will do!

It is important to know the content you are teaching, but it is just as important to present the content in a format that the students can understand.
