I learned why college/university catalogs are so bulky. The information required by law is diverse and detailed. The reason for this is to ensure that the perspective/current student is transparency, integrity and honesty. When a student has a question about an area I have no knowledge of, I will refer them to the college catalog and a qualified staff member. 

Competition is everywhere, schools are not exempt from this fact. It is okay for schools to be proud of their successes. The foundation of their reputation is integrity. Be honest, encouraging and provide facts.  Facts that reflect the "normal" achievement, not the "extraordinary" are appreciated by students. If you want to "set the student up for success" then provide timely and honest information. 

I was aware of and have used the "Do Not Call" registry as a consumer. Now I am aware of my responsibilities as an employee.  The The CAN SPAM ACT was very good information to have. It is good to know from both perspectives how regulated electronic communications are. I thought there was no regulation, since I get thousands of spam emails daily.
