It is mandatory for any agent working in the admission process or recruiting process to follow the rules, regulations and guidelines accurately, otherwise, many problems might arise since the enrollment moment is the first contact between students and the institution. Agents must be aware they have a great responsibility avoiding future issues with the legal state of institution.   

 

Having an organization chart that describes the different levels of responsibilities in an institution is necessary, as it is having  functions manuals so everyone can have documents to refer to in case information is needed. These documents must be read regularly and be updated eventually by the athorities when necessary. 

 

I have learned that there are situations in which students may pospone or cancel their studies for several reasons, and that the institution must be prepared for any claim coming from that party. In order to respond accordingly to cases like this, information about refund policies and other withdrawal scenarios must have been stated in the enrolment agreement and discussed it with the admission department agent; if this situation was not part of the process, an oversight case can be seen from the institution which can lead to legal problems. 

 

Prospective students are relying their future on someone that represents an academic institution whose job is also that of forming values and principles in their "clients"... that confidence needs to be honored by providing accurated information at all levels. Students will accept most of the details the admission representative provides.  

 

The marketing and advertising strategies are very important to attract prospective students to colleges and universities. The channels used for these efforts change from institution to institution, but it is important to aim the message to the correct target, sometimes parents can receive this information and sometimes, high schoolers must be those receiving it. Regardless, technology is playing an important role in any marketing campaign.

 

Interviewing a prospective student to be registered in a university is a very serious process for the responsible person. It requires a lot of previous preparation in order to document relevant information neccesary to complete the task.  

 

I have learned that to become an effective Admission Director it is necessary to know not just the information about the institution you work for, but also, to be able to prepare other professionals in that field since the AD is respobable for institutional trainings.
