I enjoyed this class. Getting all the students of varying ages and learning skills to learn the same material and not insult the more advanced students is difficult, this class gave good ideas on how to achieve this. I am upfront with my students and tell them I use many different techniques in order to reach all learning types and personalities. I give the statistic that when you use multiple methods, it increases the retention rate. Once they understand my method, they buy into it and become engaged in learning.

These are great tips, one thing I like to ask my self before acting, "Will this matter to me in 6 months?" If I say no, it gives me the freedom to let it go. If I say yes, I plan what to say to get the results I desire. It's always better to act than to react.

It seems that it is a sign of the times that more is expected for the same. Verbal thanks goes a long way,

What is the best way to get your alumni involved with your current students?

How much involvement do you get from your alumni? What types of events help bring alumni to your events?

To make bookmarks.

It's a constant challenge to find ways to engage students. I like to play Jeopardy and other games to keep them interested. I also bring students up to help for parts of the demo to make them feel involved and students like to watch their friends do things, will they mess it up? will they make it right? It's kind of fun.

I never thought about retention as part of my job, I am glad I do some retention functions on my own and look forward to implementing more that I learned here.

I love the idea of keeping people up to date on their grades, the more time they have to correct, the better. Especially with special needs students, communication is key.
