Activity

It is very important to know how students will learn in this environment. Try to place yourself in your students shoes realizing that although this technology may not be new to them, it is something they probably never used before to attend school. Some may have more experience than others and know ing the 6 learning styles: Avoidant, Competitive, Dependent, Collaborative, Participant, and Independent can help the student and teacher utilize online learning to its best [potential.

I have noticed that some of my students have conflicting schedules. Several students are now working full-time and are struggling to find the time to do the lessons or to be pteent in a virtual chatroom. I need to communicate with students regulary and work with them at this time to give more opportunities where we can meet. I am thinking about doing an evening online class where those students can be reached.

The instructor should be well prepared before going online. They should allow social interactions before the lesson and questions at the end of the lesson. Teachers should engage students in conversation one at a time so that people are not talking over one another. There should be plenty of interaction, discussion, presenting bt the teacher and in small groups. I agree with laura Perralia regarding both asynchronous and asynchronous meetings. Both were helpful!

It seems teachers should try to protect the privacy of those in virtual enviroments. Educators should ask before sharing comments that are made by students to check if that is alright first. Teachers should be prepared and should spend time practicing before the actual day of presentation. Most student are very good at manipulating in a virtual environment and could actually teach others in the process. Have fun, be creative, and learn from these new teaching experiences that we are now doing.
