Activity

I will keep all of my 'future' course shells (syllabus/resources) and modify them (if necessary) using a repository. This will enable immediate access to current/former resources.

I have learned and will apply the elements of a good instructor's effectiveness: Teaching presence, social presence, and instructor response.

I am reminded to alllocate a specific time to 'plan'. Although, sometimes, this will be flexible, most of the time it will be standard. As noted, this will ensure that I exhibit less distractions and focus on my obligations. Also, I will place at the forefront the following: Managing time and function, establishing rules and regulations, and always demonstrate leadership qualities.

With these constant reminders, I will be able to increase my valuable time (and) reduce overload while prioritizing teaching and living.

I have learned about the importance of online support to review and obtain teaching guides, policies, management assistance, and technical support,

Upon my entry into the world of teaching from an on-line platform, I will provide my students with several successful tips. Several being to avoid procrastination, participate actively, balance schoolwork with other obligations, communcate regularly, provide respect communication, monitor goal setting, and introduce them to the guidelines setforth by Chickering and Ehrmann.

As a future on-line instructor, I have learned that there is a lot of technology to learn, review, and experiment with before actually beginning to teach. This opportunity to learn and apply hands-on experience will enable me to better assist my future learners; and, also to provide them with the best technology selection(s) for communication choices.

I have been reminded that I am (also) a self-reflective learner. The communication, technology preparedness, and time management which I expect for learners to possess as they enter an on-line course-I, likewise, must examine (these key attributes) in the efforts of becoming an excellent on-line facilitator.

I am reminded of the importance and value from using rubrics. I will concentrate my focus on rubric development to ensure that my feedback is consistent, objective, and timely.

My goal is to promote and enhance on-line student participation by providing expectations and standards. Some enhancing methods introduced wiill be: (1) to encourage introductions, establish clear guidelines for participation, and provide timely feedback.

I have been reminded to encourage all students to participate in frequent/active communication. In contrast, the classroom, we have a variety of ways to assess learning when students do not 'talk', 'speak up', or verbally engage. Within the e-learning environment, students may be encouraged to participate in postings because it is an active way to being involved---with a passive engagement (behind the computer/not in person).
