I think that there are too many risks, at the end of the day, for using social media in courses. I feel that it is very difficult to maintain confidentiality when using social media and there are too many FERPA related issues. I like the idea of creating a professional rather than private page, but I think that from administative perspective this would be very difficult to control and there are too many risks of faculty members using these Facebook pages to share views that would be not acceptable with the university.
