When student learn, they

1) learn new content

2) question their assumptions and either accept them or reject them to create new ideas

3) learn something about themselves and are then motivated to learn more

I am inspired to create a learning environment that develops reflection from the student of their learning.

"You have a higher probability of something coming up to you during class if you are prepared the night before". As instructors, we want students to take the time to prepare beforehand so you are challenging them to apply that knowledge to create meaningful connection between knowledge and what they are learning in class that day.

Have a solid syllabus that shapes your class and expectations for your student.  It's a contract between you and the student.

Also, be specific with objective to guide outcome measure of learned activities during the lessons.

My goal is to implement more NBCOT questions into every lessons from the beginning to develop the continual expectation of understanding content to licensure asessment.

  1. "Learning is the most important thing going on in the classroom/laboratory, not teaching. This is student-first teaching.

That is so true! In order to have an environment to learn, we need to be motivators in our areas of expertise!
