About me

I am currently working for an online school as a part-t time adjunct and love every moment of it. I will say that I miss the face-to-face interaction but still find comfort in writting my thoughts and feedback to students. I have been teaching post secondary adults now for 6 months but was working for an online school for almost a year in an administration role.

I am interested in incorporating social media within my classroom so that I can bring learning to where my students are 90% of the day. The challenge is that in order to do so, it would have to be a part of my schools predefined curriculum and there always seems to be "compliance" hoops to jump through. What are some tips on getting support from my school to allow me to introduce social media into my classroom?
While I believe that technology tools lend themselves well to building relationships in the online environment, what if you are restricted to the schools learning/classroom platform. I teach at an online school where communications are restricted to inside of the classroom for reporting purposes(blackboard). Is anyone familiar with any technology tools that enhance communications on blackboard outside of email and holding chat sessions?
