In Economics, there are many opportunities for students to write about the economy, their experiences in the job market or in buying a home. It helps them tie the class to their own observations and instances where they knew they were experiencing an economic event. Many times student don't know that they already know some economics in the real world and writing aobut it helps them make the connection.

I found this class really interesting, I didn't understand how social media fit in with OInline Edcuation, but i can see that it expands the ways students can learn and provides new tools for learning. Liked this class a lot.

I'm curious about other social networking sites, does anyone have some suggestions?

I agree, it's been one of my favorite courses. I think it would be interesting to take a ground course about it with exercises and interaction, I think that would be very useful for a corporation or school to implement something like that and I think it would be fun, too.

After taking ED115, it made me realize how important 'relating' is. Rentention of student or employees is about relating to them. What are their needs and understanding how to make them succeed. If there's a disconnect, retention will suffer and it can cost a lot of money to a student or an employee. I like that soft skills are becoming more important in the workplace, it used to be ignored, I think.

Emotional Intelligence vs Intellectual Intelligence, that was really interesting. EI is so important in work, things like common sense used to be common, but like my grandfather would say, 'Common sense is the least common of the senses'. If you have good EI it can be a great asset because as some say, 'you just get it'. It's hard to teach, I think harder than technical skills which can be memorized, for instance. EI and soft skills require a different kind of analysis.

I never knew goals were that complex, there's definitely a method to the madness.

Glancing/cheating is a problem with a few in every class. I separate or ask them to take the quiz elsewhere, changing seat assignments or changing the quiz itself helps. How does everyone else handle it?

I really like the idea of making your class relevant to the student and their career. It helps them 'personalize' the material and keeps them engaged. This was a good module.

I agree with the text that late work should have points taken off, but I'm not sure that the recommendations are stringent enough. I feel that a significant portion of their points should be taken off that same day to discourage the behavior. If too much time is given for make-up and not enough points, the student will take the easy way out.
