One major challenge is the high volume of messages instructors may receive. Without a clear system for organizing emails, important inquiries can be overlooked or delayed. Synchronous and asynchronous learning each provide unique avenues for student participation, making it essential to design instruction that accommodates varied learning preferences and reveals how individuals perform best. Structured peer interaction—such as small group conversations followed by shared summaries—encourages both accountability and deeper comprehension. Discussion activities are often more effective in asynchronous settings, where all learners have space to contribute thoughtfully without being overshadowed.
