It is important to try both types communications with the students and to get feedback from them as to how you are doing as an instructor.

I found the suggestion toask students how the course is going and how you are doing to be helpful. I would even ask them to share what other teachers are doing that they like so that I can make improvements.

I liked the sharing of biography with students. I do not think it is a good idea for high school students to face time with school online platform. I think it opens up legal issues.

It is very important to understand how to communicate with students in a timely manner. The importance to manage the chat environment and to drop participatnts that are violating school policies.
