About me

Activity

I find a good way to teach about ethics is to have students share their experiances at clinicals. Then we discuss if treatment was appropriate or what could be done differently. The students really seem to enjoy other's stories.

I teach for six hours one day a week. I find it's really hard to keep the students' attention for that long, and they have a hard time only seeing the information once a week. I don't have time for a lot of group activities because there is so much material to cover. How can I keep them engaged?

Discussion Comment
That is a good idea. I have allowed the students to make suggestions and I try to meet them half way with a resonable solution. However, sometimes I feel like the more I try to assist the class the more they complain unfortunately.

It really stresses me out and makes me tense when my students complain a lot about a difficult lecture. How do I deal with this?
Discussion Comment
I get nervous when lecturing at times and find myself talking very quickly. What are some ways to overcome this?
Discussion Comment
When I have my students give presentations on case studies, how can I encourage the other students to ask questions and participate?

If you don't feel 100% confident in a lecture you are giving, is it ok to bring in another instructor to help with the lecture? If so, do you tell the students prior to the lecture you don't feel comfortable or do you just play it off?

How do you approach your students when you find that you have make a mistake? How do you deal with their reactions?

Discussion Comment
What is the best way to organize my lecture notes so it doesn't seem like I'm reading too much? Other than memorizing the whole lecture.
Discussion Comment
I thought of doing something like this, but by the time they reach my class they are already very farmiliar with eachother. I don't want to bore them so I'll have to think of something creative.
