About me

Labor day weekend 1981 Cleveland airshow. It was during the air traffic controllers strike. President Regan was rebuilding American pride in our country and military. During the airshow I walked inside a massive C5A Galaxy, the immense size of the aircraft was etched in my mind. I graduated in 1984 and enrolled in Texas Aero Tech, located at Dallas Love field. Upon graduation in September of 1985, Lockheed Georgia company came to our school. They offered a month long sheet metal training course, upon successful completion, To my surprise they said I would be working on C5A Galaxy, the same plane I walked through four years earlier at the Cleveland airshow. In November of 1985 I started at Lockheed Georgia company. I have worked on many different types of aircraft in the last 40 years but the C5A and C5B Galaxy  is where it all started.

Activity

My favorite teachers of all time had one thing in common. They made learning fun. They also built belief in there students that they could do anything. I have learned in this module that a well structured class, objectives of the day, quiz to gage the comprehension of materials, lectures 20-25 minutes and bring your very best you to inspire and motivate your students. Probably most important, listen to what your student are saying verbal and non-verbal

My take away is. You create a safe and curious environment, student will engage in course content. As a instructor when my students engage there is opportunities to share the knowledge that will be relevant in the work place.

The three tools for question. Open question, adequate wait time , and the think-pair-share techniques. I am learning this for the first time, like any skill practice, apply and learn from feed back.

I can see where asking just closed ended question will not enhance problem solving skills

Assessment test measure the student knowledge on the topics covered. As a instructor it help me to know areas that may need additional training of the subject matter.

I see where questioning as a way for the whole class to learn. I learn if they are retaining lesson. They learn how to apply this knowledge through targeted question.  Socrates quote I can't teach anybody anything. I can only make them think.

The concept of adjusting teaching to different learning styles. I can see were that is a more effective way to present learning materials.

If I am interested in the material I am presenting my student will become interested. Be aware of time management and make the class flow. Engage with your students to keep them focused.

Encouragement goes along way when it comes to learning. Making the class and subject fun will keep students engage.

Knowing that there our four different learning styles help to structure a lesson plan for these styles. Storytelling is said to be the most effective way adults remember content. Practice and take note about what worked and what could use improvement in lesson. delivery.
