If not a quiz , then maybe some questionairs that would give us some info on the backgrounds of the students. We need to know more about them as individuals to see where problems may arise.

I think more so now that the pre-production ( introducing the students to what will be expected of them ) and orientation are vital. I would say in our school this is the main problem for retention. The course gave me ideas for the students first month to get them off in the right direction.
