Bruce , I agree with your methods. In many cases, a curriculum develpment team creates the learning objectives for courses and it is important that we are able to summarize and appropriately explain the primary goals of the objectives to our students. Tremayne Simpson
Krista, This is an effective method for implementing learning taxonomy. I have found "Socratic questioning" to be an effective assessment tool, because you can gage a student's level of subject knowledge, based on the elaboration of their answers. From there, you can figure out if they are ready for higher-level activities. Tremayne Simpson

Alexandra, This is a unique method for receiving student input. Are the less popular topics rescheduled for another day or discarded altogether? Tremayne Simpson

Roger, What methods do you use to encourage your students to participate in the end of term survey? For most instructors, generally there is a challenge with getting high student survey completion rates. Tremayne Simpson
andrew, How do you disseminate your lesson plans to students? Do you post them electronically (via a student portal) or provide the plans to the students in class? Tremayne Simpson
Jeremiah, In addition, documented lesson plans can be used to assist other instructors that are teaching the course for the first time. We have an option on our school's Faculty Portal, which gives instructors an opportunity to share their assignments and activities with other teachers. Tremayne Simpson

Alexandra, This is a great method for ensuring that time is properly managed in a class session. I have used "iClickers" as well and I find that students are more candid in their responses, because they are able to be anonymous with their answers. Tremayne Simpson
Jim, How do you proceed in situations where your previous experience may contradict some of the methods that are explained in the textbook? For instance, you may have a more succinct way for programming a software component, however the textbook provides a method that may produce more confusion amongst your students. Tremayne Simpson
Jeremiah, This is a great method for "breaking the ice" with a new class of students. I give my students a survey activity, in that they are asked to provide details about their individual approaches to learning and their short-range, mid-range and long-range goals. Tremayne Simpson
Colin, Do your students have to prepare a dish (in the first week of the course) in order to demonstrate what they have learned in previous courses or is a written assessment assigned to them? Tremayne Simpson
