Dale, Once you have figured out the skill levels of your students, what methods do you use to create the desired environment ("stronger" students assisting the "weaker" students)? Is there ever a situation where a student feels that they may have been deemed as a "weaker" student? It is a delicate situation to handle as an instructor, because it could negatively effect the student's self concept. Tremayne Simpson
Sherri, This is also the basis for program internships. It is important that students have the opportunity to see that their acquired skills will actually be necessary for performing functions of their desired careers. They can also get this opportunity if they are able to participate in "job shadowing" opportunities, with perspective employers. Tremayne Simpson
Warren, This sounds like an effective activity. If students practice on their own cars, they will learn to use the same amount of care and diligence on the vehicles of their customers. It indirectly teaches them about customer service techniques. Instructors must find ways to make the learning "personal" in all subjects. Tremayne Simpson
Donna, I agree. The course syllabus can be explained in the context of the Learning Taxonomy, during the first day of the course. In that, as the instructor is discussing the weekly topical outline, they can explain the accompanying level (of the learning taxonomy) for each individual activity and assignment. Tremayne Simpson

Sherri, I agree. In addition, it is important that the learning objectives are revised whenever there is a new edition of the textbook, because some of the elements may be lost in the newer edition. Tremayne Simpson
Donna, I agree, Power Point presentations are great for emphasizing the important parts of a unit. I have also use Power Point presentations for exam reviews and "final reflections" which is conducted on the last day of the course. Tremayne Simpson
Sherri, I agree with this observation. As I mentioned earlier in the discussion thread, all assignments, activities and student assessments should developed in alignment with the learning objectives and ultimately, the program outcomes. Tremayne Simpson
