My role right now is to provide accommodations to students. I have learned who should and should not speak on it, and that admissions should refer students directly to me. I will provide access for students as well as have conversations with them about educational and career paths that can or cannot be done within reason.

I think the most important concept in this section is to recognize that even though students might have the same or similar disabilities, their ways of operating or leveling the field, might be different. It is important to ask each individual student what their accommodation needs are, and not just assume that because they have a certain disability that the accommodations are the same.

Providing accommodations levels the playing field for those students with disabilities. That is the goal, not to give any student an advantage. With the changing times, especially in technology and the way courses are delivered, it is the responsibility of the college to provide necessary accommodations.
