HI Crystal, MaxKnowledge has a great variety of instructor training. In addition to several teacher training courses there are also courses like retention that are good for instructors. You might want to check your local universities to see if they have Educational Leadership departments. Faculty there may be able to assist you to create custom training. Thanks, Susan

Make life easy for yourself, Kerrie. Focus on a system for today and tomorrow. Keep it simple. Assemble the data as soon as you get the completed surveys and write up a summary. Email it out to interested people, or assign them, or create a committee. Ask for feedback within 2 days. Compile the feedback and resend. Ask what changes should be made as a result of this info. Go from there. You'll have a good system in place. Good luck, Susan

Hi Kerrie, Sounds very thorough. What do you do with the information you collect from the surveys? How is the information analyzed and distributed to others for feedback. Are there other ways to measure placement success? What about job retention, advancement, etc. Good job, Susan
HI Kerrie Sounds like you are model school - doing everything right in your career services offerings. Now you might want to measure each strategy to analyze results. Also might want to ask yourself if career development is laced throughout every activity the student experiences. Great. Susan
Hi Lawrence, Very good to remind us all the importance of employer relationships. To us developing and maintaining contact with employers and potential employers is a must and win-win situation. Employers can sit on advisory boards, review curriculum, give you feedback about your grads, hold mock interviews, give presentations about what hiring staff is looking for, how to keep a job, get a raise, mentor students, offer job shadowing opportunities, etc. Best wishes, Susan
Hi Kerrie. Sounds like you have a great career services department. It's important to depend on evaluations to tell you how well you are doing and what changes need to be made. Be sure to ask your students, grads, and employers how you are doing. And more important, be sure you use the info to make changes. Good luck, Susan
Hi Kerrie Can you tell us more about your employer strategies. Employers can be a great resource. They can mentor, evaluate curriculum, hold mock interviews, tell students what it takes to get a job, improve on the job, get a raise, and make the employer interviewee relationship successful. Thanks, Susan

All great ideas, Cyrstal. Here are a few more to consider: Stay in contact with your employers. Ask them to evaluate your grad as an employee. Any training that needs to be added so the new hire is truly work ready? Does the employer have employees they want to send to your school for training? Will the employer mentor students, evaluate your curriculum, attend a job fair at your school? Hold mock interviews, give presentations at your school, etc? Also you might consider offering workshops in how to negotiate the salary you want, how to get a raise, etc. Lots of… >>>

HI Dale It is true that instructors have enormous responsibilty. Sometimes they are the only person the student sees. To some students the instructors are the school. So very important that the instructors know their subject matter, how to teach, and are very very customer service oriented. We highly recommend ongoing teacher training. Bring in people for specialized workshops. Make it fun. Hold retreats. And sign them up for MaxKnowledge courses. Be sure teachers are compensated for their training time. Bes wishes, Susan
HI James, Really amazing that your PAC attendance has increased. Once a week meetings usually does create burnout. Can you tell us more about your meetings, how long they are, what your expectations are, and basically what keeps the participants coming back. Thanks, Susan
