We use Naviance assessments with Freshman and Sophomore students to get them thinking broadly about careers that match with their interests and abilities. We also offer a Work based learning program (SLE) with multiple employers in the community. We take students to career and college fairs to get them interacting with potential employers and Admissions Reps.

SEL describes learning as being able to collaborate with others in a manner that promotes healthy sense of self and a work ethic that shows you believe in yourself and others. Positive SEL is the foundation for long term employability.

It truly takes a village- collaborative approaches and communication among staff allow a full scale career development program where students benefit greatly. It is important to clarify roles so that colleagues work together resulting in effective programs.

Work Based Learning, or Structured Learning Experience (SLE), is a great opportunity for students who want to begin their work life and/or try different ideas out before committing to a path.  There is so much learning that happens in a first job- learning about yourself, learning about the work world, learning about others work styles that having the support of WBL provides structure for a student to enter the workforce in a positive way.
