About me

I have been in the medical field for 33 years. I started in the lab, ran a lab for 11 doctors, worked in phlebotomy and trained nurses on ABG’s, and completed my lab adventure working in microbiology while attending nursing school. I have worked the last 20 years in ER and we opened an ED observation unit where I was charge for the last 3 years. In my spare time I love to bake and can make a mean cupcake! When I retire from nursing I hope to open a shop where I can serve desserts and coffee. No cell phones though, because I feel we need to get back to basic human interaction face to face with others. I have a daughter that is a nurse and she has my only granddaughter at this time. My son will be starting high school this fall. New to South Carolina as I was born and raised it the Bluegrass state of Kentucky.

Interests

baking, reading and trying new foods.

Skills

er, critical care, phlebotomy

Activity

I have learned that we all have innate biases, but we can self reflect and not allow ourselves to get in the way of being inclusive with our teaching strategies. I can gain knowledge about students’ interests and learning goals so that the course outcomes will become more effective.
