About me

I love teaching.  I get a great deal of satisfaction from knowing that I can pass my knowledge on to someone else and they can go on in life and begin a new career. It has been a real learning process though.  At times, I did not think I could do it.  I just kept pushing when it became uncomfortablem and little by little, I just got better at it, and enjoyed it so much more.  It was worth it.

Interests

exercise, gardening, boating, spending time with family and friends.

Skills

great with getting along with others. great with always trying something new

Activity

Not everyone should teach.  Also, everyone does not want to teach.  Teaching is very challenging and difficult, but does not come without great rewards if your heart is in it. I do remember what it was like when I was a student.  You either got it or you didn't.  Most of the time it was the instructor that made that happen.  I can definately go back and recall the ones that did not have either the desire to teach or motivation to teach.  The students are the ones that suffer in the end.

I agree.  I think this should be a manditory class for everyone employed at the school.  If was very informative and helpful.

I greatly enjoyed this continuing education course.  I believe it would be helpful to review it over and over.  Not just go over it one time.

ED117 Understanding general differences was quite informational.   There are many things I learned about the Y generation that will help me a great deal in the classroom.  It also explains more than what I thought was a reason this generation had to always be on their cell phones.  It is a dificult task to get them to stay on track.

I totally agree.  I too enjoyed this course and the facilitator.  It was great to follow along and just learn a few good tips and remember some things that I have just forgotten the past year.

@sonicwave : I don't know about you Albert, but this course could not have come at a better time in my life.  I have been dealing with stressors as an instructor and in my personal life fpr qiite some time now.  I was quite relieved to go through this course and just revisit some of the things I already know but have forgotten to use.  I know that this will help me to better manage stress as a whole.

It is wonderful to get to know your students and developa rapport with them.  They seem to learn so much more.  They trust you more as an instructor.  They retain the informatio so much better if you vary your presentations.

I really find that the more I take these CEE courses, the more I learn how I can engage my students interests in any chapter that we cover.  I really feel that building that rapport with the students is such a valuable componant in being  able to gain the trust of your students.  They appreciate and learn so much quicker and retain information better as well

I just finished ED 107 and I want to know if anyone found this class took too much time, there was too much information to follow, and went back and forth too much.  I just found it to be the worst of all that I have taken.

I also enjoyed this 106 course.  I learned a great deal more about learning dificulties, like dyslexia.  I did not realize all that I could do and should be doing to be of help to these students. I will also be able to better watch and notice the student and how they learn a lot better.
