Combining lecturer styles can help meet the needs of students with different learning styles. 

Introductions, for both instructor and students, help to ease nervousness and set expectations of how the class will progress throughout the semester.

Clear objectives help prepare both the teacher and the students for what they should be getting out of the course. It is also good to make checklists so nothing is forgotten in terms of lesson planning.

I learned that in order to be a great instructor I must fulfill all 3 roles well- model, manager, and motivator. I think it was important to learn that every teacher needs to develop their own approach to teaching whatever curriculum they are responsible for.

Real life clinical scenarios help students to apply real-world problem solving and critical thinking skills to scenarios they may actually experience.

Rubrics are a great way to help standardize the grading process and provide detailed rationale as to why a stupid earns or loses points based on assignment criteria.

Learners sometimes do not recognize how much "work" is required of them in an online, active learning environment. They then believe that the instructors are not teaching enough or effectively, when in reality they are not utilizing the course in a way that gains them the insight and knowledge they seek.

I think active learning strategies are essential to effective learning today. With that said, it can be difficult for student's who lack internal motivation to stay on task sometimes or exert themselves to their fullest potential.
