I learned that establishing communication early in a course allows for a smooth flow of the course and minimizes email overload for the instructor.

The information on student attrition was most helpful. I work for DOC and many of our students are intimidated by their academic abilities or lack thereof, causing them to withdraw.  The strategies outlined will be very helpful to make e-learning more attainable for our students.

Understanding the components of the CMS is critical when working in the DOC.  Instructors should be able to provide academic and structural support with some knowledge of technical support.  Our students will not have access to live support.  As a result, instructors and administrators will need to be knowledgeable of all levels of support for our users to be successful.
