Motivation comes in two forms: intrinsic and extrinsic. Where as extrinsic can be useful intrinsic is most effective. Extrinsic should be used sparingly to bridge towards intrinsic.

Being focused on students needs and expectations, especially adult learners, requires giving them time to answer questions, be interactive and giving positive feedback. Adult learners need to feel secure in their learning environments and more in control of their learning process.

This module has demonstrated the importance of motivating students to be successful. Showing students their instructor not has subject matter, but is equally excited about sharing this and their own personal experiences. A motivated instructor will have knowledge, expertise and enthusiasm for the course material.

REFOCUS will be a great tool for keeping students and myself engaged and excited about the material and the learning process. Mid term slumps can sometimes be challenging to both student and instructor. Building a rapport and sharing personal experiences encouraging participation in a mid term review will help keep everyone engaged and give positive feedback to the students.

I learned the importance of the human factor  encouraging the learning process. Giving daily feedback and acknowledgment boosts students confidence. Setting a fun and positive environment promotes learning.

Daily greetings and telling a joke or asking someone to share a joke or story will help the class to be at ease. I will remind students they are doing a good job when they have completed a task/assignment. positive reinforcement will keep them interested in the learning process.

This course gave me a better understanding of student diversification and the importance of individual needs as well as the general needs of the course studies. This in turn will help teach the material of study while involving students as a whole. Teaching through real life experiences, engaging students allowing their participation and feed back will keep the interest of a larger more diverse group encouraging learning and retention.
