About me

Activity

This was truly very informatative.  I've been in admissions for almost 12 years and this really helps in giving good reminders of how to be effective and to help the prospective students.  I look forward to more training in the future to help me stay proficient as an admissions officer.

I find this section very helpful. Especially when dealling with transfer of credits. It does help to see that each school is responsible for what credits are transferable or not. It is a great idea to have a section in the cataloge that highlights what each course it worth but ultimately it us up to each insitution to decide what can and cannot be accepted.
Our staff makes it part of our training and a routine to visit with all the directors and instructors to get to know each others jobs and to know how the company funtions. This allows for greater communication and understanding in the company. It also allows us to relay accurate inforation to our prospective students.
I have found it very helpful to put together an admissions manual with the course catalog, enrollment agreements, DOE rules all together in a binder for future reference. This helps me refer to it when any questions are asked by potential students.
This is a great idea to have a list of terms and definitions as well as a resource book. It is great to review from time to time. This will help to stay up to date on the rules and regulations.

I too have been in admissions for a long time now. This type of training has been sorely needed in the postsecondary school education industry.  So many schools cut a lot of corners just to get students enrolled, when really as admissions representatives,we are there to educate our prospective students as well.

This was a very helpful experience!  I appreciate all the information and now know where to get additional help and information to make my job as an admissions representative more effective to also find ways to help the potential students!  I look forward to the next class I take with FAPSC.

It is definately helpful to be informed as to the transfer of credits from one instution to another. I have learned that so many schools only offer a set amount of credit hours unless they have an articulation agreement with another school or program. Meetings with all the institutions departments more frequently is a great idea to have effective communication within the entire organization.
This is a good review of information I received recently from a FAPSC seminar here in the Orlando, FL area. I appreciate the need for a school to make sure it varifies all its placements and advertisements.
It is good to know that things are being monitored by the DOE and accrediting agencies to ensure fair practices and to look out for the consumer. I feel confident that my institution is handling things fairly and honestly going through this module.
