the importance of critical thinking - using group based learning, collaborative learning and problem based learning.

The thing that stuck with me was time management. I have seen this so many times - students in an online class don't really take into account that they have to meet deadlines and still show up for class.

What stood out to me was the idea of active learning and critical thinking skills are not woven into standardized testing.  Also the importance of making technology equitable.

A couple of things stuck with me 1) stepping away from "sage on the stage" and 2) r2d2.  I've taught for many years - and have practiced both sage on the stage and guide on the side.

One idea I picked up on was utilizing a class forum for questions - so I am not inundated with emails.  I never thought about doing that before - it makes perfect sense.

I found the different learning style interesting - as I was watching I was thinking of my current class and what their 'styles' would be.

I learned how important it is to write a short bio of myself - so students get to know who I am.  I also like the idea of them doing a short bio.

I found it interesting that there is so much more that goes into online learning than one would think.  I need to be able to manage the curriculum and other responsibilities as well as provide a safe online learning environment.
