I like the idea of career portfolios because they are versatile and can be molded to fit different job applications. I agree that it also increases confidence in students once they look back at all they have accomplished.

I think is is always helpful for the students to understand that they have ownership over their grades.  I also try to keep it as simple as possible. 

Everyone likes to feel like they are being listened to and that they are valued. I struggle with remembering students names. I really have to focus on this. 
Students that are engaged in their learning environment feel more valued and appreciated. This is an ongoing process and is imperative. 

Everything needs to lead back to them. They are the captain of their ship and nursing is a serious occupation. It helps to have a lot of "real life" experience to enhance the material.
