About me

Hello Professors,

I am looking forward to sharing discussion and insights with my fellow educators.   After working as a creative professional, then executive in the entertainment industry for 25 years,  I now do marketing, corporate branding, start-up, and social media consulting as well as teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

My interest is in suggestions on increasing student engagement in online classes.  As in offline classes (in-person),  certain students are more verbal.  In online courses, I default to calling on students for their insights.  Otherwise,  participation would be severly reduced.  Can also use some tech tips on using Zoom whiteboard.

This module clearly described the benefits of ISD.  The information about peer and self-evaluations per assignment or individuals throughout the term is very intriguing as I currently conduct peer review evaluations only at the end of the semester. Also, restating how important it is that students understand the outcomes of their efforts is valuable for educators know.

This section provided me with the thought behind each lesson plan.   It also clearly conveyed the five different lecture formats for my own self-assessment.  I will explore ongoing change to my course presentations to make them more relevant to students.  Is it time we all did a course reassessment?

This segment caused me to reflect on question design to increase student critical thinking, learning outcomes, AND engagement.  In addition, the concepts are timely, as I have been reconsidering text material vs. smaller, more consise and relevant reading materials for students.

The information given here crystalizes what I have been doing intuitively as an online educator since 2013.  On-target to coin the term "structural integrity" with the comparison to building construction.  I will look for an opportunity to create a "virtual field" trip for my students.  Excellent suggestion!
