About me

I am a junior instructor at a technical college where I am teaching cosmetology students.  I enjoy learning new ways to improve my abilities to reach my students.

Activity

I am a fan of study guides too!  I have designed mine like you have.   They have to work for the answers, nothing is handed to them.  I find it to be just one more source to prepare for their test.  Also, I inform the students that the test will not just be from that guide.  I am opposed to having all test questions on the guide.  I think they need to review all notes, text book, etc.

I have found that using creative ways to present the material helps.  I sometimes use curriculum related games to review the information.  At times it may seem elementary but is a change in the traditional ways.

I am always trying to find new and creative ways to present material to my students.  I have developed several interactive games for my course.  I have found that the studetns enjoy getting the material in a nontraditional way.  I hope this is helpful!!

I just finished the same course, I agree!  Great course!

I have also used different test versions.  This has been a great way to keep "wandering eyes" out of my classroom!  It makes for a little more work on the teacher's part but it is worth it!!!!!

DOCUMENT, DOCUMENT, DOCUMENT!!!!   I often prefer to  communicate via emails verses phone calls, so that I have a paper trail!

I just completed the CM 102-DEL course and found it very informative in keeping up with the requirements for the students.  The new federal guidelines should improve student retension.
