I learned I need to hold students more accountable for their online communication.  I also need to be more consistent with my syllabus to set the rules for communication.

I had never thought about the use of social media for online course discussions.  I like this.  I like being able to use less email and replacing with more creative communications.

Formatting my course is important to allow the student to better access and refer back.  Using modules with 1 to 2 key concepts allows for this.

Close monitoring of the discussion board is essential as is to include personal feedback.  Setting the expectations for communications should occur first with the dynamic syllabus.

I learned I need to pay more attention to my pattern of teaching and to make sure that I give rapid communication for assignment feedback.

I learned about incorporating more technology tools which I can use with my virtual teaching as well as in the classroom.  I had never thought of wikis or podcasts

Multiple evaluations are needed.  I liked the discovery of the SALG website to better assess from the student's perspective!  I added a bookmark for this website.

Most of this was a review for me since I already incorporate rubrics with self, peer, and instructor review scores.  I did discover that I should add a component for the rubric assessment and that is to ask the student based on the assessment, what changes did you do.

I have learned to scaffold during the building of course modules.  Also to vary the type of discussion to the learners.

I learned to keep patterns and templates so the students know what to expect.  I plan to keep assignments and modules more time consistent.
