Daron, For sure. And, it's not just healthcare, but many other topics/subjects that continually change. Therefore, life is ever-changing and students need to realize they need to become lifelong learners. Thanks!

Daron, It's good to be available, but setting rules/regulations such as "I will respond within 24-48 hours" is good. Don't become a 24-7 instructor. I even put in my syllabus when my office hours are and tell students that is when I check/respond to email and discussion board postings. Thanks!
Daron, Do you offer participation points for the Web meetings? I typically require that students attend 2 Web meetings and I schedule 4 or 5 at all different times and days. Then, they know up front (first day of class) that they have to arrange their schedules only twice during the course to come to the Web meetings. They receive participation points for attendance and engagement. Hope this is helpful.

Daron, Sounds like you have figured "your system" out. Doing the "night" thing works for you and your family, but also for your students. Thanks for sharing.

Melissa, Ah - I can't tell you how many times I talk with instructors and they don't understand why the rubric they have been using for years is not working any more. We have to review and revise and make sure we don't continue to use a poorly designed rubric. Thanks for your input.

Kathy, Everything we do has to be reviewed and revised. Rubrics are one important part in this process. We don't, as you said, want to be "way off." Thanks!
Kathy, The key is a well-designed rubric. We, as online instructors, need to be careful about developing the points or percentages for each category and making sure the criteria match up well with the learning outcomes. Thanks!
Christen, Excellent examples of process, produce and performance. Thanks for adding to the conversation and helping others understand.

Kathy, Ah - milestones. Good point. Breaking down those important parts into categories/areas helps both the instructor and the students. Keep teaching as I love a good massage! ;-) Thanks!

Valerie, Great points! I like that you note that this is a quality assessment tool and that is helps both the instructor and the students. Nice job.
