Sloan, Oh - they are definitely not personal. Assessment, in general, should not be personal. It's not something we do "to" students, but "with" students. You bring up a very good point.

Janet, Rubrics are "my friend" and sounds like your friend as well. ;-) You are right on target when you emphasize how they help both instructors and students. Thanks.

Sloan, Thanks for adding to the conversation about the generations. We all have that generation we find more "challenging/difficult" and I wonder many times if that's not because of "our" generation. ;-) Thanks!

Shirley, As instructors, we are many times teaching 3-4 generational levels at once. It's a challenge, but one good teachers accept. Thanks again for your input in these forums.

Janet, We are all different and communicate in a variety of ways as well as learn in a variety of ways. Therefore, the generational aspect is an interesting one to think about. Thanks for the examples you have provided. Take care.
Sloan, R-E-S-P-E-C-T - they made a song about that. ;-) BUT, you are so right. The respect factor goes a long way. The point about contributions being meaningful come from this basis as well. Thanks so much.
Janet, Without clear expectations, no one (especially the students) know where they are going. Without that direction, how can learning outcomes be achieved. Great point! Thank you.
Sloan, There is such a variety of students and classrooms, that - you're correct - one type of technology may work better for one class than another. This factor may affect the relationship with students and how the class moves forward. Nice job.
Shirley, Starting with the instructional design is key. It's great when instructional designers work closely with the instructor to make there there is a match between design and learning outcomes. Thanks for adding to the conversation.
Desiree, I bet you have learned a lot in those three years. ;-) We all have time limits on our time and should work to structure time for us and our family within all we have to do. Engagement is essential and the number of students can affects that effort as well. Thanks!
