Paula, Correct. As you've noted, the rubrics help students understand the expectations/outcomes and help the instructor grade in a consistent manner as well. It's nice when one thing helps everyone. Thanks!

Tipton, Right on! The key is that the rubrics help the students understand the expectations/outcomes, but help the instructor grade in a consistent manner as well. Thanks!

Shanel, The key is also that the rubric helps the students AND the instructor!

Paula, You are correct. We are all different and have our own strengths and weaknesses. We don't all see things the same way nor do we do things the same way. It's important that we all learn from each other as well. Thanks!

Mary, Love your example. Any time I have students that say "I hate this." or "This is stupid." I say, "Maybe I haven't made it clear how important this project/assigment is and how it related to the learning outcomes." That helps sometimes. Thanks for your input.

Shanel, So true. We are all different. We have our strengths and weaknesses. The main thing is to try and understand others and how to communicate with them effectively. This is true in life as well. Thank you.
Paula, I'm in agreement. Settting the expectations so that all students understand what is required/expected is essential. Instructors and students should serve as role models for each other, but you're right, the instructor should take the lead. Nice job.
Brian, Well, you can close the loop, but the loop keeps turning and turning. ;-) Consistent, constant feedback and course improvement is important. Thanks!

John, You are correct. Appropriate content and the appropriate level go hand in hand. Deciding how much time it takes for students many times if the hardest parte. With the learning objecives, everyone understands the course expectations. Thanks!
Mary, Yes, condidering the audience it important. Each class is composed of different students and communicating in a variety of ways is important. Rubrics, establishing the expectations and communication are key elements to success. Thank you.
