Ginny, Right on! What you have described would be considered meaningful feedback that would help the students improve. Nice job.

Nia, Right on. It is important to determine what the students should learn (objectives) and make sure they understand the expectations. As you provide the information to students in a variety of ways, they can all be successful. Thanks!

Ginny, You're right, it can be difficult. But just knowing that communication is essential to any classroom, but especially the online classroom is awesome. As students "come" to class they want to develop a relationship with their peers and instructor. Effective communication can help. Thanks!

Alfretta, These are all perfect descriptions of a rubric. Nice job. Don't forget that the rubric also helps the instructor be more consistent in his/her grading. Thanks again!

Tanya, Right on! Any time students have less complaints, they typically understand what is expected of them and can act accordingly. Don't forget the rubrics help the instructor too as they are more consistent in their grading. Thanks!

Alfretta, You are correct. Different generations bring a lot to the classroom and students can learn from each other. Such diversity is important. Thanks!
Discussion Comment
Tanya, I agree as I think students should serve as a community of learners and learn from each other. Each generation is a bit different, but personality traits can cut across generations and overlap in some instances. Getting to know our students is a must. Thank you.
Alfretta, Thanks for your input on this forum. Your are so right - everyone has expectations, the students and the instructor. Making your expectations clear and helping students understand what is expected of them and why those are the expectations, is essential. Nice job.
Tanya, Feedback to the students is so essential. Making sure it's timely and provides information to help the students improve, is essential. Thanks for your input on this forum.
Linda, Right on! When the students know what is expected of them and when the instructor models good communication as well, its makes it easier for the students to follow the standards for civility and online etiquette. I like your question as well - What would be the point of communication guidelines if the students were not held accountable for their actions? That's so true. Nice job.
