Miriam, Right on! Each generation has they "shining stars." It's what we do with those "shining stars" and those that do not shine so brightly that matters. ;-)

Yehia , Understanding your audience, your students, helps you plan and teach more effectively. Each generation can learn from each other, but we must understand where they are coming from. Proper communication, as you noted, is the key.
Miriam & Mary, You are right on with being role models and setting the tone for professionalism. It's essential to show students the importance as well. Thank you for your input.

Miriam, Serving as a role model is the instructor's role. Making sure everyone is respectful helps develop a safe place to share information. Communication is enhanced. I stress professional communication and spelling/grammar are essential to professional communication. Nice job.
Miriam & Daniel, Thanks for your input. Certain content needs to be provided to students in various ways. Certain tools are certainly necessary.
Miriam, Yes, security and making sure the instructor can assist in that security is important. Thanks for your input.
Miriam, Knowing the tools and knowing the capabilities of the students is essential. As you noted, yo must make sure you are using the appropriate tool. Nice job.
