Joe, Definitely. Knowing where you are coming from, what you have to teach and how you're going to help the students achieve the course outcomes are key elements. I like the KISS approach: Keep It Simple Silly. ;-) Nagivation is a huge part in the students being able to learn the content. Thanks for your input.

Mark, Keep in mind that rubrics help the instructor and the students. Mutual benefit is good.

Mark, Ah - identifying the obstacles is an important aspect of getting to know your audience. Remember these are guidelines to the generations and not all fall exactly into these categories, but having some general knoweledge helps you investigate them more. Thanks!

Miriam, You are right. Many of us have stayed up-to-date or continue to try! ;-) It's a challenge, but necessary to stay current in our jobs. Thanks for your input! Keep learning.

bobbe, Yes, making sure everyone understands the expectations is extremely important. And, asking for student input is an excellent way to get ideas to update the course on a continual basis. Thanks!

Joe, Good info. Thanks for your input. Love that you mentioned Bloom's Taxonomy and discuss a variety of ways to provide content to students. Nice job.
Mark, Thanks for your input! The instructor and students both need to understand the expectation and how to communicate effectively with each other. The syllabus is typically the first step in effective communication.

Miriam, The key is that the rubric helps instructors and students. You are right with that win-win situation.

Yehia , Correct. I like the way you think. And, if the rubric is viewed as a contract clause and someone does not abide by the contract, they lose points. Makes sense. Thanks!
Discussion Comment
Miriam, I agree. Let's learn from the students. It's the best way to understand your audience.
