Tammara, Ensuring students understand what is expected of them as they strive to achieve the learning outcomes is essential. This helps them move forward, as you noted, and go further. Thanks!

Tammara, Knowing your audience is essential in any situation, but especially in teaching. Keeping the audience on track to meet the learning outcomes by engaging them in the content is a must. Thanks for your input.

Garry, Content and connection - that's the key. Know your content and connect it to the real-world and the learning outcomes. Nice job.

Garry, Right on. Keeping all of these factors in mind when thinking out the development of your course is essential. And, it's OK to be redundant! Ha! Thanks for your input.
David, I have the students use the rubric to self- and peer-evaluate before I evaluate them. This helps them think about whether they left something out of if they could do better before I provide a final evaluation. Many times i then get feedback from students on how to make the rubric better or it provides an opportunity for me to clairfy something they don't understand. Thanks for you input.
David, Isn't Google a good thing. ;-) There are many rubrics already developed. Just make sure you, as you stated, do include your specific criteria. I'm glad you shared that specific statement with us. Thanks for your input.
Michelle, It's OK to start with a generator or what someone else has used, but make sure you tweak it to meet your needs if need be. Take time to ensure it's in line what the learning outcomes and the project. Thanks!
David, Correct. The development of rubrics should take some time. The instructor (and at times students) should review the assignment/project/learning outcomes/etc. to ensure proper alignment. Thanks for bringing up that important information!

David, Glad you are using rubrics effectively. They are so important and help the instructor and students as well. Nice job.

Janelle, Don't forget that they help the studnets understand the project/assignment more and should be used to help them understand the expectations/learning outcomes. Thanks!
