Russell, the syllabus is the first step in communicating everything to the students. Communication and collaboration helps establish the scaffolding for the students. Thanks!

Russell, The content and organization of that content is very important. We always want to remember to create a module and make sure it works before we make several more. Thanks for your input.
Lauren , With student inviolvement, they will better understand the expectations and work toward meeting the learning outcomes. Thanks for your input.

roger, Yes, we must evaluate the rubrics to make sure they are on target. It is great that you are making sure the students understand the expectations as well. Nice job.
Lauren , Examples are good. Just make sure the rubric meets your needs and helps student meet the learning outcomes. Thanks.
Lauren , Good point. I actually put e outcomes in the rubric. It helps me make the connection. Thanks for sharing.

Lauren , Ah - a math instructor who used rubrics. Some say if it is just right or wrong, no rubric is needed. I like the way you are using them. Thanks.

Anthony, Rubrics and big expectations have their place in education. When the have good criteria developed and the students understand the expectations, it is a good match. However, as we have noted many times in these forums, the content plays a key role in whether rubrics may be pertinent. For example, math is right/wrong unlike deciphering a case problem which has no right answer but students must defend their answer. Thanks for your input.

Anthony, Your wealth of experience is to be applauded. Your institution is luck to have you on board. The generation thing is real, but students cannot use their generation as an excuse. They still must be held accountable. Thanks so much for your input.
