Natalie, Right on. If the rubrics are just made up "willy nilly" and not to assess the instructional objectives, they are worthless. It's good to have that strong connection to make sure you're assessing what you need to be assessing. Thank you.

Natalie, Thanks for your input. It is important to think about these parts as a whole rubric. We can expand each part as needed, but also make sure the parts work together. Thank you for your input.
Natalie, We all learn from our mistakes. I'm glad you are learning from the modules. We all continue to learn from each other. Keep progressing!

Natalie, I have tried to have 4 live chats a semester and schedule them at various times. For example, 8:00 a.m. on a Monday, noon on a Wednesday, 7:00 p.m. on a Thursday, and 10:00 a.m. on a Friday. I put these dates/times (spread out throughout the semester) in the syllabus and tell the students on day one that they have to choose two to attend. They have to rearrange their schedule to just meet two of the four. OR, you could do 1 of 4 or whatever works for you, but then they all have the opportunity to ask… >>>

John, Yes, that's right. Rubrics helps both the students and the instructor. When we all understand the expectations and criteria for assessment, the better. Thank you.

John and Trina, Thanks for continuing the conversation. And, the sandwich methods of feedback with positive and constructive feedback is essential as well. Thanks for your input.
Russell, Right on. You are on track with your responses. I like the look at the grades and the written comments students make. These both help me think about how I am doing as the instructor and how the course is set up. Thanks!
Shelly, Variety provides more information from different points of view. I particularly like your comment sabout cataloging comments students make and then making edits to your course. That is what it is all about. I typically need to teach a couse three times before I feel like it's almost right. ;-) Thanks!
Shelly, Meaningful is the key word. Without meaning, what is feedback? Just words. The feedback has to be connected to the learning outcomes and help the students improve. Thanks for your input.
Russell, Formative and summative assessment should both be utilized. That's for sure. Take what the students are providing back to you and use it to improve the course. You are right on with the meaningful feedback. Without meaning, feedback is nothing. I heard the other day that feedback should be feed forward. ;-)
